Meet The Blights Motors Team

Tim Blight

Director

Tim is Jeff's brother and Nick's uncle, continuing the family tradition at Blights. Passionate about cars from an early age, he has been involved in vehicle sales since leaving school and brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the business.

As a Motability Accredited Specialist, Tim takes pride in helping customers find the right vehicle, building lasting relationships with many loyal clients and their families over the years. Outside of work, he enjoys volunteering as a Scout Leader with his local Scout Group.

Jeff Blight

Director

A familiar face at Blights, Jeff has dedicated his career to the motor industry and has helped guide the business through many years of growth and change. After completing his apprenticeship at Waddam Stringer in Barnstaple, he went on to become Company Director, bringing decades of knowledge and experience to the team.

Outside of work, Jeff is a keen amateur radio enthusiast with a passion for restoring classic vehicles. He owns several Austin 7s and regularly attends rallies across the country. In his younger years, he also enjoyed competing in rallycross and stage rallies, driving both a Mini and a Vauxhall Chevette.

Nick Blight

Sevice Manager/Director

After completing his apprenticeship with the Rydon Group, Nick returned to the family business, bringing with him valuable technical knowledge and industry experience. Originally trained as a Ford Transit Specialist, he progressed to the role of Service Manager before becoming a Director, and now works across all areas of the business.

Outside of work, Nick is a keen cyclist and an enthusiastic car hill climb competitor, combining his passion for motorsport with his lifelong interest in the automotive industry.

Jon Brandi

Sales Manager

Jon's connection with Blights began when he bought his very first car here, making his journey to becoming part of the sales team all the more special. Friendly, approachable and knowledgeable, Jon is dedicated to helping customers find the right vehicle and ensuring they enjoy a great buying experience from start to finish.

Outside of work, Jon has a passion for snooker and is a devoted fan of Dolly Parton, taking every opportunity to attend her concerts whenever he can.

Becky Stringer

Service Receptionist

Becky is a valued member of our Service Reception team, ensuring the department runs smoothly and that customers are kept informed throughout every stage of their vehicle's service or repair. Her proactive approach and friendly manner help provide an excellent customer experience from booking in to collection.

Outside of work, Becky enjoys taking her Mk6 Golf GTI to track days and spending time camping with her husband and their dog, Buddy.

Alan Down

Parts Manager

Alan heads up our Parts Department and is responsible for ensuring the workshop has the right parts at the right time. Highly organised and proactive, he works closely with the service team to keep repairs running efficiently and minimise delays, helping to deliver the highest level of customer service.

Outside of work, Alan enjoys cycling, walking his dog, and attending classic car shows.

Hannah Esau

Service Receptionist

Hannah is the friendly face that greets customers at Blights, always going above and beyond to ensure every visit is a positive experience. From booking in your vehicle to handing back the keys, she is dedicated to providing outstanding customer service and making the process as smooth and welcoming as possible.

Outside of work, Hannah previously enjoyed a successful five-year career competing in ORCi Mini Stox stock car racing. She also has a passion for classic cars and has spent time restoring her own classic Mini Clubman, combining her enthusiasm for motorsport with a love of hands-on restoration.

Jake Quinlan

Workshop Foreman and Technician

As Workshop Foreman, Jake brings a wealth of technical expertise to the team and is highly skilled in vehicle diagnostics and repairs. With his knowledge and experience, he is always on hand to offer advice and ensure every vehicle is maintained to the highest standards.

Outside of work, Jake enjoys restoring and driving his classic Mini, attending car shows, and volunteering as a youth football coach.

Ian Curtis

Technician

Ian has been part of the Blights team since leaving school and has built a wealth of experience over the years. As a fully trained MG Technician with the latest EV qualifications, he has the expertise to work on both traditional and electric vehicles, ensuring customers receive the highest standard of service.

Outside of work, Ian enjoys open water swimming and has successfully swum the English Channel—an incredible personal achievement. He also loves attending live music concerts whenever he gets the chance.

Steve Bailey

Technician

Steve has many years of experience in the motor trade and is known for his practical, hands-on approach to vehicle maintenance and repairs. His knowledge, attention to detail, and commitment to quality workmanship make him a valued member of the Blights workshop team.

Outside of work, Steve enjoys fishing, spending time with his grandchildren, and making the most of family time.

Aaron Tanton-Joy

Technician

Aaron has many years of experience in the motor trade and brings a wealth of practical knowledge to the workshop. With his hands-on approach to vehicle maintenance and repairs, he is always happy to help customers and ensure every job is completed to the highest standard.

Outside of work, Aaron has a passion for motorsport and enjoys banger racing, as well as spending time working on his own cars.

Caidon Vanstone

Apprentice Technician

Caidon is currently completing his second year at Petroc College as he works towards becoming a fully qualified technician. As an Apprentice Technician at Blights, he is developing his skills and gaining valuable hands-on experience under the guidance of our experienced workshop team.

Outside of work, Caidon enjoys gaming and spending time with his girlfriend.

Lewis Carpenter

Valeter

Lewis is a highly skilled valeter with an exceptional eye for detail, ensuring every vehicle leaves the showroom looking its very best. In addition to professional valeting, he also specialises in ceramic coatings and paint protection, helping customers keep their vehicles in pristine condition.

Outside of work, Lewis enjoys training in Muay Thai and spending time maintaining and restoring his classic cars.

Kylie Blight

Accounts department & HR

Kylie plays a key role behind the scenes at Blights, ensuring the day-to-day accounts and administrative processes run smoothly. Alongside managing the accounts department, she is also responsible for the company's HR, supporting both the business and its staff.

As Nick's wife, Kylie keeps Nick in check and helps keep everything running smoothly both in and out of the workplace! Outside of work, she enjoys walking her dogs and spending time with her family, particularly supporting her children in BMX racing.

Karen Watts

Accounts Department

Karen has been a valued member of the Blights team for over 10 years and plays an important role within our accounts department. Known for her dedication and reliability, she is always happy to support both colleagues and clients. Outside of work, Karen enjoys spending quality time with her family and loves escaping on camping weekends whenever she gets the chance.

Teresa Rowland

Accounts department

With more than 10 years of experience, Teresa is a valued member of our accounts team, providing reliable support and assistance whenever it's needed. Friendly and approachable, she plays an important role in keeping everything running smoothly. Outside of work, Teresa enjoys gardening and spending quality time with her children and grandchildren.

We are a credit broker and not a lender. We can introduce you to a carefully selected panel of lenders, which includes manufacturer lenders linked directly to the franchises that we represent. We act on behalf of the lender for this introduction and not as your agent. We are not impartial, and we are not an independent financial advisor.

Our approach is to introduce you first to the manufacturer lender linked directly to the particular franchise you are purchasing your vehicle from, who are usually able to offer the best available package for you, taking into account both interest rates and other contributions. If they are unable to make you an offer of finance, we then seek to introduce you to whichever of the other lenders on our panel is able to make the next most suitable offer of finance for you. Our aim is to secure a suitable finance agreement for you that enables you to achieve your financial objectives. If you purchase a vehicle, in the majority of cases, we will receive a commission from your lender for introducing you to them which is either a fixed fee, or a fixed percentage of the amount that you borrow. This may be linked to the vehicle model you purchase.

Different lenders pay different commissions for such introductions, and manufacturer lenders linked directly to the franchises that we represent may also provide preferential rates to us for the funding of our vehicle stock and also provide financial support for our training and marketing. But any such amounts they and other lenders pay us will not affect the amounts you pay under your finance agreement; however, you will be contributing towards the commission paid to us with the interest collected on your repayments. Before we propose you to a potential lender, we will inform you of the likely amount of commission we will receive and seek your consent to receive this commission. The exact amount of commission that we will receive will be confirmed prior to you signing your finance agreement.
